So I had a front only integrated cam system for my vehicle and after about 2+ years of use the cmos battery seemed to have tapped out- leaving me with the problem of my recording being time stamped back to 2020 every time to system would restart. Not the most ideal thing to happen to dashcam footage that could be required in case of an incident for insurance purposes. I reached out for support here and they directed me to a couple of videos that showed how to replace the cmos battery on the camera logic board. Now I consider myself fairly competent with repairing electronics so I figured I would give it a shot. Went ahead and ordered the correct battery with tabs and dusted off my soldering kit. To my dismay when removing the old cmos battery from the board the contact patches for the battery came off along with the tabs. So I spend the day trying to fix the issue and decided that it was not possible with the tools I had. Maybe this level of repair really should not be a consumer level repair after all. So I reached out to support again with my new dilemma and despite not being able to locate my 3 year old order number/receipt they were nice enough to allow me to use a warranty claim. I took the opportunity to upgrade to the dual cam setup and paid the difference. Maybe FITCAMX should address this cmos battery issue dying within less than 3 years to avoid future issues with customers but overall a humbling but positive outcome.
